New X-FILES Poster: Mulder and Scully Mark the Spot

My gosh, with all the hype and excitement over Star Wars being only 17 days away, most of us have forgotten there will even be life after The Force Awakens. January will play host to another sci-fi return, however, as FOX will premiere the mini-series for The X-Files. It is the reunion 13 years in the making, not counting their second movie, and we at Nerdist cannot think of a better way to ring in the new year! Entertainment Weekly has now released a new poster for the series that takes a simple approach to advertising the show.

Mulder, Scully, and a giant X are all their advertising has ever needed in order to sell The X-Files, and at this point, the mini-series sells itself. All any fan needed was to know David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were teaming up again.

After a rather lackluster reunion in 2008’s X-Files: I Want to Believe, one can only hope that the six-episode event will return to The X-Files’ roots of slow-burn suspense, flashlights in the dark, and terrifying creatures. Casting news also tells us Mitch Pellegi and Annabeth Gish will both return for the series. Fans will also get to see more of the Smoking Man and the Lone Gunmen despite them being presumed dead by the end of the original show. In a show like The X-Files, though, death isn’t exactly permanent.

What are your predictions for the The X-Files mini-series? Do you think we will find out anything about Mulder and Scully’s baby? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to tune into to FOX starting January 24 to believe again.
