After fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise had a collective heart attack at the sight of a busted children’s Halloween costume that appeared online earlier this month, photos purporting to show the Turtle maquettes has just surfaced, and it would appear that we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
has posted photos that offer a peek at the Turtles as they will be seen in the live action reboot. Despite having seen on-location photos of Megan Fox as April O’Neil or Will Arnett’s Vernon Fenwick, the actors playing the Turtles have only been seen in mo-cap suits. Fans of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael are still waiting to see the updated look in action.

It should be noted that the maquettes in this photo are fairly similar to action figure descriptions that were leaked recently as well. While the Turtles and Master Splinter sounded pretty cool, the Shredder concept was reported to be, well, really pointy… And now we have this:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is directed by Jonathan Liebesman and hits theaters this August.

Neil Gaiman Shares His Inspiration Behind CORALINE (Exclusive)

  1. Hey there! I understand this is kind of off-topic but I needed to ask.
Does running a well-established blog like yours require a lot of work?
I’m completely new to running a blog however I do write in my diary
daily. I’d like to start a blog so I will be able to share
my experience and views online. Please let me know if you have any kind of suggestions or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers.
    Appreciate it!

  2. Jessica says:

Technically they are aliens since the ooze came from space… Just saying.

  3. Jenn says:

As a long time fan of the original early 90’s TMNT cartoon and movies, I am disappointed with the new costumes. The TMNT are supposed to be mutant turtles who morph into humanoid-turtles. These new ones look less humanoid and more “monkey-ish”. I miss the people in costumes who can actually interact with the actors, as opposed to these new ones who must be CG’ed to interact with real-life actors. Plus, the TMNT are not supposed to be badass superheros, like Superman or Batman. They have a sense of humor and good attitude (except of course, Raphael). Ugh.

  4. are they goingto have master splinter on the movie or cassey jones

  5. David says:

These designs look AWESOME to me! They should have released this stuff a LONG time ago and they could have saved themselves a TON of bad press! I only hope the script is good. That’s one of the coolest versions of Shredder I’ve seen for any film adaptation so far. Hopefully they’ve got a lot of Ninja Turtle fans working on this movie so at the very least we’ll get some good fights and cool imagery! I really hope this is good though!

  6. Chris says:

They were never aliens. That was a comment that was taken out of context.

  7. Bryan says:

This might give you a better perspective on what the turtles will look like.

Much better than that Halloween costume from a week ago.

  8. Fartbooty says:

    Are they still aliens?

  9. Brandroid says:

    I’m digging Donatello.

I don’t know why anyone would think they look terrfying. It’s the same turtles, just buffer and with more accessories.

  10. PapaFrita says:

Actually, with the posture and armor, they really remind me of Predator.

  11. Jonathan says:

I’m 37 and therefore more than love the Turtles. I actually like the new looks a bit, but really want to see the finished product to be sure. Also, I am trying to remain calm until I see this flick, but with Bay and Fox being any place near this movie worries me. No matter what I’ll always have the original stuff, but I can’t wait to see if this turns out well enough to at least bring a smile to my face. After the Transformers trilogy and the first G.I. Joe movie, I am more than prepared for failure and the desecration of a beloved childhood franchise…yet that inner child still holds out hope. Until I watch it, I will remain calm and without too much judgment 🙂

  12. Jibbit says:

gotta point out, the turtles armor seems made of small bamboo and leather…. i can overlook how impossible it would be to find/forge weapons in the sewers of new york (seeing as its new york), i can assume that they used old rags to make masks and belts, but am i really supposed to assume splinter cultivated a bamboo garden in the sewers without natural light for years to craft outfits for his turtles????

  13. Cappie says:

Have to agree with Cecily. Did They try to imagine what Lord Voldemort’s Kids would look like if he fucked a Turtle?

  14. Cecily says:

What is there to sigh in relief about? If that’s all the better they can make them look, I’ll take the non-terrifying people-in-costumes version of the 80s any day. These turtles are terrifying in a bad horror movie sort of way. And what’s with all the nonsense he’s wearing? This is beyond disappointing. Barf.

  15. turd says:

The designs are cool and all, but…Shredder should lose the over exaggerated slanted “Asian” eye aesthetic on his helmet.

  16. Metal Alex says:

    Shredder looks badass
