Last April, the team at Ismahawk released the first episode of Minute Match-Ups, which set the comic book version of Deadpool against his silent (and very disappointing) incarnation from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This week, Minute Match-Ups is back with a cross-company battle between Marvelâs Hawkeye and DC Comicsâ Green Arrow!
Note that this isnât the Hawkeye from Marvelâs Cinematic Universe, nor is this Green Arrow the âArrowâ from The CWâs popular series. But that doesnât stop a few Avengers, Justice League Unlimited, and Arrow references from dropping in the episode. The trick arrows will fly and a hero will fall! Itâs a short, but very well put-together fight that ends very definitively in favor of one archer.
Casual comic book fans may not realize that Green Arrow and Hawkeye have actually met before. Itâs true! Back in 2003, Marvel and DC finally gave fans a JLA/Avengers crossover miniseries by the dream team of writer Kurt Busiek and artist George Perez, working on the book he was born to draw. Hawkeye and Green Arrowâs rivalry played out as you might expect.
But late in the miniseries, Busiek and Perez presented an alternate timeline in which Hawkeye left the Avengers to join the Justice League and win Black Canaryâs heart, much to the annoyance of Green Arrow.
And if you want to know more about Hawkeye, peep The Dan Cave on the man, the myth, the archer:
This episode stars Adam Kilbourn as Hawkeye and Tony Smith as Green Arrowâwith Danny Shepherd and Jeremy Le serving as co-directors. Shepherd also produced the episode with Adam Kilbourn, and cinematography by Le. Arhat Orphan Brotherhood, Aaron Ortega, and EZ Ortega were the Stunt Coordinators.
