New INHUMANS Trailer Ends with a Big Medusa Spoiler

Warning: there are spoilers ahead for Marvel’s Inhumans. Turn back now if you don’t want to know what’s coming!

In Marvel’s comic book universe, Medusa was the first Inhuman character to be introduced in the pages of the Fantastic Four. As envisioned by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Medusa’s incredible control over her prehensile hair gave her a unique visual component, and it has remained one of her signature features. But according to a new trailer from Marvel’s Inhumans TV series, Medusa’s flowing locks won’t last long.

Within the context of the show, it’s easy to guess why Medusa ends up with a shaved head. Medusa’s hair is her power, and taking it away from her was probably an attempt to control her and keep her prisoner. Note that Medusa appears to be free in the brief clip after she has lost her hair, but we’re still willing to bet that Maximus the Mad was behind her haircut. Black Bolt’s brother has planned a coup in the Inhumans city, Attilan, and Medusa was one of the few who didn’t bend the knee.

Screen Rant speculates that removing Medusa’s hair from Inhumans may have been done as a budgetary move in addition to story reasons. Honestly, we don’t disagree with that hypothesis. Inhumans may be getting a two-week stay in IMAX theaters this Friday, September 1, but it’s not a movie. It’s a TV show, and that means that it doesn’t have a feature length film’s budget for effects. However, we’re hopeful that Medusa’s hair will be restored at some point during the series.
