Everyone is getting in on the Back to the Future Day fun, even the Honest Trailers team. But first, the Back to the Future Honest Trailer has the depressing thought of the day: We are as far away from the original film as Marty McFly was from 1955. Whoa…thatâs Heavy!
This Honest Trailer focuses on the entire Back to the Future trilogy, and it quickly points out that the basic storyline of the films is pretty formulaic. Itâs even a little disconcerting to see the side-by-side-by-side supercut of the “Mom, is that you?”, “Hey, McFly!”, and “Are you chicken?â scenes.
One of the best jokes in this weekâs Honest Trailer blames the trilogyâs use of Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, Tom Wilson, and James Tolkan as their own ancestors as evidence of Hill Valleyâs shallow gene pool. It also calls out Doc Brown for building a time machine out of one of the most unreliable cars of all time. Thereâs no denying that one. The DeLorean DMC-12 looked amazing on film, but it constantly broke down during the course of the trilogy.
Back to the Future is also branded âthe creepiest blockbuster in historyâ for the original filmâs subplot of Lorraineâs lust for her future son, Marty. And also, why is Lorraineâs attempted rapist, Biff allowed to hang around the house and do chores for the McFlys like heâs a friend of the family?! That was just weird.
