New Honest Trailer Doubles Back on The BACK TO THE FUTURE Trilogy

Everyone is getting in on the Back to the Future Day fun, even the Honest Trailers team. But first, the Back to the Future Honest Trailer has the depressing thought of the day: We are as far away from the original film as Marty McFly was from 1955. Whoa…that’s Heavy!

This Honest Trailer focuses on the entire Back to the Future trilogy, and it quickly points out that the basic storyline of the films is pretty formulaic. It’s even a little disconcerting to see the side-by-side-by-side supercut of the “Mom, is that you?”, “Hey, McFly!”, and “Are you chicken?” scenes.

One of the best jokes in this week’s Honest Trailer blames the trilogy’s use of Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, Tom Wilson, and James Tolkan as their own ancestors as evidence of Hill Valley’s shallow gene pool. It also calls out Doc Brown for building a time machine out of one of the most unreliable cars of all time. There’s no denying that one. The DeLorean DMC-12 looked amazing on film, but it constantly broke down during the course of the trilogy.

Back to the Future is also branded “the creepiest blockbuster in history” for the original film’s subplot of Lorraine’s lust for her future son, Marty. And also, why is Lorraine’s attempted rapist, Biff allowed to hang around the house and do chores for the McFlys like he’s a friend of the family?! That was just weird.
