New GILMORE GIRLS Poster, DC Shows’ Superhero Fight Club, and More TV Updates

Did anyone else stay up later than usual to watch Luke Cage last night? Know that you’re not alone in yawning through your morning. Do what I’m doing: make extra strong coffee and energize yourself with a lil’ TV-Cap. I have a super fun, super charming Superhero Fight Club promo for DC’s comic book shows, a poster for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, some American Gods scoop, and more.

These Mugs. If you had any fears about Lorelai and Rory giving up coffee for the revival of Gilmore Girls, put them aside. New key art for Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life shows the mother and daughter with coffee mugs, as it should be. It’s not a groundbreaking image by any means, but when you’re hungry for all the Stars Hollow-related things you can get—you should make re-creating this image your weekend mission, is what we’re saying. Lead Found. TNT’s pilot adaptation of Let the Right One In has cast its female lead! Kristine Froseth will take on the role of the vampire Eli. [Deadline]

Speaking of Vampires. Any day I can work in a, “Speaking of vampires,” is a good day. Anyway! Taika Waititi is planning a TV spin-off for his What We Do in the Shadows mockumentary (which I highly recommend). Paranormal Event Response Unit will star the two cops that appeared in the vampire special, Karen and Mike. The story will follow them as they try to keep New Zealand citizens safe from all the supernatural creatures that want to do them harm. [Nerdist]

Everybody in Da House. The DC comic book shows in the Berlanti-verse—shows produced by Greg Berlanti—are coming together in four way crossover this winter, and that’s when Arrow’s 100th episode happens to fall. What an anniversary present! They’ve been working on the 100th episode, and star Stephen Amell has been sharing pics on social media with teases, including the one above. All the characters, dudes. See more faces that will appear in Arrow’s 100th here at Nerdist.

Fight Club. Okay. Ready for the best video you’ll see today? Watch Supergirl get introduced to the superhero fight club with characters from The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. Then consider we live in a world where Supergirl could meet Felicity and Cisco at the same time. TVs will break from the cuteness. [Nerdist]

No More Ooo. Not to bring you down with bad news, but I have some to share. Cartoon Network will end Adventure Time in 2018 with its ninth season. There will still be specials and miniseries dropping here and there, but it’s time for the main story to end. What’s the opposite of oh my glob? [Nerdist]

More AI. Fox is committing to a script for an AI-focused series (this is where I mentioned they had a great one with Almost Human). They’re looking to develop Girl 10, produced by Jessica Alba. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show centers on Elle, “one of only 10 synthetic humans in existence who is being investigated for murder while trying to stop an evil cabal from weaponizing the technology behind artificial intelligence.”

Expanding the Story. Like most of you, I am beyond ready for Starz’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods to be on my television already, thankyouverymuch. But how will it be different from the novel? In the latest Nerdist News, Jessica Chobot discusses how a certain character will be stepping into a bigger role. Watch the video above to learn more. [Nerdist]

Joining the Party. Simone Missick plays detective Misty Knight in Luke Cage, and she’s told The Wrap she’ll be reprising the role for The Defenders. Who else do you think will show up when all Marvel’s Netflix heroes come together? [IGN]

Harlem on His Shoulders. If you’ve been bingeing Luke Cage, the smooth notes of the opening credits are all too familiar. But if you haven’t checked ’em out yet, watch them. They introduce Luke’s world and show how he carries the weight of the neighborhood on his skin. [Nerdist]

Review and Recap. I have two more Luke Cage tidbits for you. If you’ve watched the first episode and want to revisit the premiere, read my recap. If you want to stay spoiler-free but want to know what’s up with the show, read Alicia’s review of the first several episodes.
