New GHOSTBUSTERS Book Shows Never-Before-Seen Concept Art

The Ghostbusters universe is one that’s so completely unforgettable that it’s hard to imagine where it all came from. Thankfully for us, the new book Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History by Daniel Wallace gives us a deeper look into one of our most-beloved films of all time. A collection of stories and behind the scenes material from one of the most iconic film franchises of all time, the book gives us a glimpse of what went into spawning 3 movies (and more on the way!), multiple cartoon series, toy lines, and one of the strongest pop-culture fandoms ever.

Wallace’s book includes some beautiful — and somewhat terrifying — concept art of Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. GBamazon03

The art — by Thom Enriquez, Henry Mayo, and John Deveikis (and others) — showcases all the work that went into the creature designs we now know so well. It’s safe to assume that not many of us would have thought Slimer’s (originally “Onionhead”) skeletal structure was ever thought about—let alone meticulously drawn. Bonus? It also featuring a large section on Ghostbusters II, and features interviews with the key players from both films, including director Reitman and stars Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and more.GBart06

With behind the scenes stories, concept art that’s never been seen by the public, an intro written by Ivan Reitman himself (plus a foreword by Dan Aykroyd!), this just might be holy grail of gifts for any GB fan in your life. (Me. It’s me I’m talking about. Someone buy me this book.)

Check out the gallery below and don’t worry about how your wallet mysteriously showed up in your hand, it’s not a ghost, it’s just that this book looks amazing and can be purchased here in hardcover.

And if you’re curious, here’s Kyle Hill science-ing the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man:
