Our First Look at the LEGO GHOSTBUSTERS Firehouse

The time is ‘nigh, oh my toy-loving friends! The holiday season is almost upon us with its extra large digital catalogue of toys and its multiplexes filled with new movies to inspire their content. Here’s the first thing to get you super excited for such occurrences, but I’m sorry to tell you it will not be available for purchase until January 2016. The rumored LEGO Ghostbusters firehouse is here for you to drool over. Behold!

The set will cost $350 and will be ready to order in January, though no specific date has been released. It will contain 4,634 pieces that will build the firehouse complete with a laboratory, living area, ghost containment unit and Minifigs that include the whole crew from the original movies. That’s right, actual LEGO Minifigs of Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston as well as Janine, Dana and Louis. And, possibly most importantly, the library ghost and zombie ghost driver are also included.

Slimer and his ghost pals are one of my favorite features of this set. They are flexible in that they can hook all over the firehouse so you can truly experience the haunted-ness of this famous structure. And in case you missed it from the picture at the very top, LEGO had some fun with the promotional shots for the set. That picture and a number of other promotional shots were taken right in front of the very same firehouse that was used for exterior shots in the movies, Hook & Ladder 8 firehouse on North Moore Street in TriBeCa. LEGO released the shots and all this glorious information via their Twitter and Facebook profiles on Tuesday.

The new Ghostbusters film doesn’t hit theaters until next July, and the ladies aren’t included in the Minifig set, but what do you think? Maybe we’ll see some LEGO expansions come summer time? I have my streams crossed!
