Nerdist Presents: The Roles That Got Away with Bruce Campbell

Bruce “The Chin” Campbell has been a staple of nerd culture for as long as most of us can remember. Since breaking through with his longtime friend and collaborator Sam Raimi when he created horror icon Ash in the original Evil Dead, he’s gifted us with his style and good humor in projects ranging from the masterful Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness to cult favorites like The Hudsucker Proxy and Bubba Ho-Tep to television hits Xena: Warrior Princess and Burn Notice, on which he starred for seven seasons as unflappable former Navy SEAL Sam Axe. Campbell’s also appeared in perhaps the funniest Old Spice TV commercials ever made and offered unforgettable cameos in all three of Raimi’s blockbuster Spider-Man movies… But what of the roles that got away? In this exclusive Nerdist Presents video, the one and only Chin reflects on what might have been in his own inimitable fashion.

Iron Man, huh? Who’d have guessed? Yet looking back on Robert Downey Jr.’s performance as the armored Avenger, Keanu Reeves turn as Neo in The Matrix movies, and Kevin Costner’s Oscar-nominated role in JFK, we can finally see how Campbell’s talent has been shaping our lives all along in ways we didn’t even know!

What are your favorite Bruce Campbell roles? What movies would have been better had The Chin been cast in them? Let us know below!
