TV-Cap: ASH VS. EVIL DEAD Teaser, FULL HOUSE Sequel on Netflix, & More

Days like today remind me how far streaming services such as Netflix have begun. It’s no longer used for just re-watching your favorite movies and television series or catching up on the last season of Supernatural. In fact, it hasn’t been for a while. Netflix has an impressive amount of original content , and they’re adding more all the time. Today’s round-up of TV news has three examples of that so keep reading to learn about a possible Full House sequel, to see a first look teaser for Ash vs. Evil Dead, and more.

No Escaping Deadites. Starz has released the first look at art for Ash vs. Evil Dead as well as a graphic tease. You read that right. It’s not a teaser, it’s just a video look at the poster. The 10-episode first season is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, and Craig DiGregorio. The first actual teaser will air during Outlander tomorrow night at 9:00pm ET/PT.

Lance Continues His 180. Captain Lance used to support the vigilante population on Arrow, but not any longer. The death of Sara made him look at those in masks differently and the League of Assassins causing all kinds of trouble isn’t helping. This week’s Arrow, “Public Enemy,” addressed what’s happening with Lance and so much more. Read Kyle’s review.

Back in the House. Everywhere you look, Netflix is reviving shows from the past, and the streaming service is reported to have its eye on Full House. Rumor says they’re getting close to a deal for Fuller House, a sequel to the popular ABC series. This sequel would bring back John Stamos, Andrea Barber, Bob Saget, and several other members of the original cast. Even the executive producers from the first run are coming back. [/Film]

Atom in Trouble. The next episode of Arrow, “Broken Arrow,” features the first appearance of Doug Jones as Deathbolt. When the meta-human attacks Starling City, Oliver asks Ray for help, but it doesn’t look like Ray gets the best end of the bargain. The episode airs on April 15. See more photos at CBR.

A Sketch Comedy Duo. Netflix has picked up four half-hour episodes of a sketch comedy from Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and David Cross (Arrested Development). According to Deadline, the duos’ characters in With Bob and David have been dishonorably charged from the Navy SEALS and are serving the country by making sketch comedy. Hey, we all have a part to play. [TVLine]

A Strange Disappearance. Apparently today’s update is all about Netflix. They’re seemingly ordering everything. In addition to the sketch comedy, they’ve picked up eight hour-long episodes of Montauk. The supernatural drama series is set in the ’80s and slated to premiere in 2015. The show, written by twin brothers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines) and executive produced by Shawn Levy, takes place in Montauk, Long Island. A young boy vanishes into thin air and according to Deadline, “As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.” [Deadline]

Live from New York! Saturday Night Live has been airing for 40 years. There have been hundreds of sketches, and dozens and dozens of cast members and guests. As you can imagine, any show with that many episode has plenty of good stories. Bao Nguyen’s SNL documentary Live from New York will tell some of those stories with archival footage; the documentary will be out on June 12. [Variety]
