NERDIST PRESENTS: THE HIVE Infected Finger Cookies

We’re pretty proud of our horror-love story, Nerdist Presents: The Hive. When the film premiered in theaters Malik Forte and I filmed a cooking segment where we made Hive fondue, aka tar-due. We then served it up to one of the stars of the film Jacob Zachar, who certainly had a, um, affinity for it.

Every fondue ups it’s game by the dippable side dishes. Fruit and marshmallows are all good, but Infected Finger Cookies really take it over the top. This Nerdoween, make up a big ol’ vat of tardue and give your friends the finger! Cookie finger, obviously.

Hive Infected Finger Cookies
ingredients:
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
–1 Tablespoon Matcha (green tea) powder
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– pinch of salt
– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup sugar
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla
– sliced almonds
–red food gel dye

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, Matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla until combined.

Slowly add in the dry ingredients until the dough comes together. The dough will form quickly and when it starts to pull away from the bowl, it’s ready.

Split the dough in two and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill until you are ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats.

Form the dough into finger like shapes. Use the back of a knife to make faux knuckle marks, then add a sliced almond for the fingernail.

Transfer onto the prepped baking sheets and bake for 10 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.

Once the cookies are cool, use a food brush to paint on red food gel dye to resemble fake blood. Once properly bloodied, the cookies are ready to serve or dip in fondue.
