New DEADPOOL Figure Wants to Give You All 18 Inches

One of the big frustrations superhero movie fans have is the way different Marvel characters are at different studios, so you can’t have the Fantastic Four battle the Hulk, for instance. For fans of Marvel toys, however, it’s even more frustrating: not wanting to promote rival studio product, Marvel no longer licenses properties owned by others for action figures, which is why you never saw toys of Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse, or Michael B. Jordan’s Human Torch.

So you may never see an official Ryan Reynolds Deadpool, but thanks to the level of detail NECA is packing into their 18-inch “comic-based” figure, you won’t need one—this sculpt didn’t come directly from the movie, but it might as well have:

The company has the rights to DC and Marvel characters (movie and otherwise) in quarter-scale, but this is the first one that has been purely comic-based. Like many other licensors dealing with Marvel, they don’t have the rights to character likenesses unique to the Fox movies. But given the Deadpool movie suit was so close to the comic design, NECA deciding to do a realistic take on it makes its close enough. Due out in time for Christmas, this Wade Wilson is big and hefty enough to actually break fourth walls with, if said walls are reasonably flimsy. He comes packing “over 30 points of articulation for great action poses. Accessories include katanas, sai, machine guns, pistol, and knife accessories, all with working holsters and sheaths.”

Rob Liefeld’s signature pouches have never looked so convincingly pouch-y. And you gotta love the extra long magazine in the machine gun that looks to be attached with duct tape. Now, where’s the chimichanga?

Is your toy shelf about to get Waded into in a big way? Is this the red guy you want to see under the tree this holiday season? Quip at us in comments below.

Speaking of Deadpool, did you hear Dolph Lundgren wants to play Cable?
