Movie Morsels: First Looks at BLACK PANTHER in CAPTAIN AMERICA and Tom Hiddleston’s Hank Williams in I SAW THE LIGHT

While the sheer size of the cast of Captain America: Civil War has had me a little nervous the film won’t have enough story to serve everyone featured in it in just two hours, I gotta admit that the first images of the fabled Black Panther in next May’s Marvel epic have me beyond excited. Also in today’s Movie Morsels, we have a cool new poster for Hotel Transylvania 2, the first image of Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams in I Saw the Light, an update on Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow’s next project, and more!

Captain America: Civil War

Heads up, superhero fans. We’ve got our first ever look at Captain America: Civil War‘s Prince T’Challa of Wakanda, better known as the Black Panther! In the following image, from the film’s shoot in Berlin, you can see Chadwick Boseman’s stuntment in full costume going into action as the character makes his big-screen debut. Arriving on May 6, 2016, Civil War, like The Winter Soldier before it, will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and feature almost every star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd. It will be followed by the first Black Panther solo film on July 6, 2018.

Hotel Transylvania 2

It’s alive!!! Sony Animation has debuted a new “living poster” for its upcoming Hotel Transylvania 2, featuring Dracula and his ever-growing family. Opening everywhere in 2D and 3D on September 25th, director Genndy Tartakovsky’s sequel to his 2012 horror comedy features the voices of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Keegan-Michael Key, and Mel Brooks as Dracula’s father, Vlad.

I Saw the Light

And you’ll see the light too! When you gaze upon the first-ever photo of Nerd God Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams in writer-director Marc Abraham’s biopic about the country music legend. Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen as Williams’ wife, Audrey Mae, Cherry Jones, Bradley Whitford, Maddie Hasson, and Wren Schmidt, I Saw the Light lands on November 27.

Book of Henry

Naomi Watts

Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow’s mysterious follow-up film Book of Henry, written by best-selling novelist Gregg Hurwitz, has its lead actor. Naomi Watts will star in the film, the plot of which remains unknown. After directing the year’s biggest hit, Trevorrow can do pretty much anything he wants. So it’s admirable to see him realizing a passion project he’s wanted to make since before he became a global success story.

The LEGO Batman Movie

LEGO-Batman-3_JokerLexLuthor_01

Finally, in case you missed the news yesterday… In what can only be the greatest voice-casting coup since, well, since Mark Hamill was hired to voice the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, Zach Galifianakis will do the vocal honors for the Dark Knight’s arch-nemesis in The LEGO Batman Movie, opening on February 10, 2017. While I’m perfectly happy to hear the once and future Luke Skywalker voice the Clown Prince of Crime forever, I gotta admit there are few living comedians who can project the kind of larger-than-life comic madness necessary to complement Will Arnett’s Batman. So hurrah!
