Movie Morsels: Max Landis Releases 4 Pages of His Pitch for FANTASTIC FOUR Online

Yes, we’re still talking about Fantastic Four. After all, it’s been a while since a superhero film has failed so spectacularly. So other filmmakers can only learn from its mistakes; while we take a look at the film that could have been in today’s Movie Morsels. Plus, we’ve got the red-band trailer for the always delightful Alison Brie‘s comedy Sleeping with Other People, as well as the poster for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, an update on Edgar Wright‘s next project, and more!

Fantastic Four

While Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot failed to clobber or flame on the box office last weekend, the studio has not yet put the kibosh on its plans for a sequel, with the release date of June 9, 2017 still in effect. There’s a rumor going around, however, that Fox may instead give that date to another sequel — to the much ballyhooed Deadpool. Meanwhile, director Josh Trank’s Chronicle scripter Max Landis has revealed the first four pages of his Fantastic Four script/pitch, on Twitter no less. Landis’ version of the film opens with the team making their trip into outer space via a ship made out of a 1968 Corvair Ultra Van. Well, at least it sounds better than the unfortunate misfire that’s now in theaters.

Director Edgar Wright’s next opus, Paramount’s Collider, is undergoing a rewrite, courtesy of The Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith. Yes, I too am curious as to what an Edgar Wright film that he hasn’t written will be like, especially after his much-talked-about withdrawl from Ant-Man.

Finally today… Though it was mentioned before, it’s been restated that, no, a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer will not debut at Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend.
