MIRROR’S EDGE Is Becoming a TV Show

Mirror’s Edge takes a leap of faith to the small screen.

According to a recent report from Deadline, Endemol Shine North America, the studio behind shows like The Biggest Loser, and Master Chef, has acquired the rights to make a television show based on EA DICE’s Mirror’s Edge. The news comes at the perfect time, what with the developer’s upcoming title, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, set to hit shelves and digital stores on Tuesday, June 7.

While nothing is planned at the moment—we don’t know whether Faith will be the focus, or if it will be based on somebody else entirely—the folks at Endemol are excited by the brand’s mass appeal and central heroine.

“We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience,” studio president Sharon Hall said. “It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base, and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”

As the studio noted, the Mirror’s Edge brand has a massive following. The first game, simply titled Mirror’s Edge, was well received when it launched on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC back in 2008. With a high-res adventure headed to current gen consoles, extending the runners’  story to the small screen would make sense… as long as it’s done right.

And speaking of video games making the move to TV and film…
