Microsoft HoloLens Debuts First Game, ‘PROJECT XRAY’

Mixed-reality gaming has been something that consoles have been dabbling with on a small scale for a while, but nothing’s been created on the level of what HoloLens has planned for your living room. The Virtual Reality project from Microsoft debuted a brand new demo for its latest wearable tech today at the Windows 10 event, and well? It looks incredible. The game shown—codenamed “Project XRay”—is a standard shooter as far as gameplay goes, the main difference being that all of the action takes place around you (meaning in whatever room your HoloLens is located).

Naturally, we’re a bit obsessed with the concept so we’re breaking it all down for you. From the crazy wall-busting, the spiffy new controllers, and who exactly gets to play it—coughcough probably none of us yet—we’re amping you up and letting you in on all the HoloLens deets fit to print. Oh and we also have a special guest from the future stopping by at the end. Trust us: you’re not going to want to miss this holographic, space-time-continuum bending appearance from the one and only Chris Parnell (oh yeah, and watch his new Netflix show, Mr. Peabody and Sherman …unless you want the entire UNIVERSE to explode!

What say you? Are you totally on board with the coming blurring of realities that companies like Microsoft and Occulus are preparing? Are you ready and willing to bust some holo-aliens? Or are you going to stick to just one reality at a time? Let us know below!
