Marvel Reveals SPIDER-MAN: DEAD NO MORE Story Details

Few superheroes are as haunted by lost loved ones as Spider-Man. He’s lost his parents, his uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, George Stacy, Jean DeWolff—the list goes on. But this fall, the deceased will be Dead No More in the pages of the Amazing Spider-Man.

Ahead of the “Dead No More” preview in Free Comic Book Day: Captain America #1, Marvel has announced that the “Dead No More” story will officially begin in Amazing Spider-Man #19 this fall, with writer Dan Slott and artist Jim Cheung.

It’s long been assumed that Doctor Octopus would be the lead villain in “Dead No More,” as his mind recently resurfaced in the body of a robot at Parker Industries. And while Doctor Octopus will be in this storyline, the return of the dead will apparently be the work of a new villain who uses their continued existence as emotional blackmail to get Spider-Man to do his bidding.

Here’s Marvel’s official description for “Dead No More.”

From the writer who brought you wallcrawling, webslinging epics such as Spider-Verse, Superior Spider-Man, Spider Island and more comes the next defining moment in the life of the Amazing Spider-Man! The mysterious man in the red suit has an offer for some of Spidey’s greatest rogues – obey him, and your loved ones live. Fail him, and lose them FOREVER! With the Rhino, the Lizard, Electro and even Doctor Octopus at his side, things are looking bleak. But who else from Peter’s past has reappeared?!

Fans will be able to read Slott and artist Javier Garron’s “Dead No More” preview in FCBD: Captain America # 1 on Saturday, May 7.
