LORD OF THE RINGS Theme ‘In Dreams’ Gets the Peter Hollens Treatment

If you are a fan of the fantasy genre, and the music that is created as part of that genre, you have probably heard the name Peter Hollens at least once before. He is the YouTube a cappella singer who has won our hearts and ears with his renditions of popular songs found in pop and nerd culture. Peter seems to be quite a big fan of the Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings films, since he has performed quite a few songs from those films. Who can blame him, though? The music in those films is fantastic (shout out to Howard Shore). Outside of that, Hollens has done his own renditions of “The Hanging Tree” from Mockingjay, The theme to Skyrim, and even a medley from Disney’s Frozen.

His version of “In Dreams” (you’ll know the tune even if you don’t recognize the title) is beautiful, somber, and calls back memories of crying my eyes out in a movie theater as The Return Of The King ended four times over. I found it quite hard to listen to the song and not just keep clicking more of his Tolkien-world covers.

Pop Culture songs aren’t the only things that Hollens does. He has plenty of his own original music, Broadway classics, and radio hits that he takes a crack at. Any fan of YouTube musicians will also see some familiar faces, like Lindsey Stirling and Alex G, make appearances for collaboration work with Mr. Hollens.

What do you think of the cover? What song do you think Peter Hollens should cover next? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to check out the rest of his page over at YouTube.
