Kotobukiya Gives Edward Scissorhands a “Sexy” Female Makeover

Although Edward Scissorhands was played by perennial heartthrob Johnny Depp, and Winona Ryder’s Kim fell for the character’s sensitive side, he’s not the sort of guy you look at and immediately think, “That’s hot!” I’m not saying you won’t get there eventually, just that such a thought will come waaay after, “What’s going on with Robert Smith?” and “How does he undress himself?”

Kotobukiya has decided to change all that by turning him into a bishoujo anime girl with a corset and ultra-short skirt. Go figure. Maybe it’s meant to be Edward and Kim’s daughter, if they ever figured out the logistics of the whole undressing thing.

Edward’s not the weirdest choice ever for sexification (is that a word? I’m making it one) by Kotobukiya, as they’ve previously done this to Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. Apparently when those tag lines to the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels called the latter “the man of your dreams,” Koto didn’t realize that was a play on the phrase. With this Edward statue, the company really has proved itself the collectible toy equivalent of the Halloween costume store that sells “sexy” versions of every popular pop-culture character, from Rick Grimes to Pizza Rat.

You can get a better look at lady Edward in the gallery below, and preorder now from Kotobukiya’s website. While you’re waiting for it to arrive, you’ll have plenty of time to wonder how the hell she laces up those boots.

Who should get the gender-flipped makeover from the company next? We know you have some ideas. Share them with us below.

Hey, remember that time we brought Kotobukiya’s sexy Freddy and Jason into live-action?
