Jurassic World did well. Like really well. So well that Universal Pictures could probably build an actual park with real genetically engineered dinosaurs and have some cash left over. So in the least surprising news of all-time, we aren’t just getting one sequel, we are getting two of them.

Universal Pictures chief Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter that she believes the first sequel will be out by 2018. Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow won’t be helming either sequel (he’ll partly be busy slumming it as director of Star Wars Episode IX), but he is working on an outline for the next film with original Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg. In fact, Langley said, “They have an idea for the next two movies actually.” Hopefully they involve lots of dinosaur fights and little of children talking.

Finding out there will be a third film is no surprise; Jurassic World made over 1.6 billion dollars, the third highest total ever, but what is surprising is that the movie was always meant to be the first in a trilogy of films, something even Universal didn’t know. “It was designed as a trilogy, unbeknown to us. It’s a happy surprise,” said Langley. Finding out your billion dollar entity was worth triple what you thought certainly is a happy surprise.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are both expected to return for the next film. Considering the survival rate of main characters in the Jurassic movie universe, we can probably pencil them in for the third film too.
