JOHN WICK Gets the Most Complimentary HONEST TRAILER Ever

This Friday, February 10, John Wick: Chapter 2 will hit theaters, and the early word is that it’s a sequel that lives up to the original. Back in 2014, John Wick became a sleeper hit, amounting quite a legacy long after it left theaters. As it turns out, John Wick may have also been one of the rare films that is Honest Trailers-proof.

The Screen Junkies team has chosen John Wick as the subject of this week’s Honest Trailers, and they can’t seem to find much to complain about. For example, the video has to jump to a clip from one of the Taken movies just to prove its point about John Wick’s uncommonly clear action and staging. Even the normal nitpicking just doesn’t seem to apply, but this episode does get a lot of mileage out of the strange assassins subculture that was introduced in the story. Although, we kind of love the concept of “an assassin jazz band.” They really are guns for hire!

We have to laugh at Honest Trailers’ observation that this is Keanu Reeves’ “eighth and arguably best character named John,” and likely agree with that latter sentiment. It is also darkly funny that Wick kills over 70 people onscreen to avenge the death of his puppy and the theft of his car. For a lesser movie, that would be ridiculous. But for John Wick, it’s just something that everyone rolls with.
