JESSICA JONES Cast Discuss Strong Female Relationships in the Show

The cast of the upcoming Netflix show Jessica Jones recently participated in a pre-panel interview on Marvel’s New York Comic Con streaming page, where they answered a few questions about the portrayal of relationships and female characters on television. In attendance were Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Ann Moss and Mike Colter.

When asked about her mysterious character, Jerry Hogarth (who was a male character in the comics), Moss said that she’s “a lawyer, who’s a very strong woman with a very strong point of view. She’s ruthless; she wants what she wants, and she’s not going to let anyone get in the way of that. That’s just who she is.” She pointed out that all it gets fun when Jessica and her character “run up against each other,” but then find that they ultimately need one another.

Taylor jumped in at that point, explaining that she’s “really psyched to see the relationships between the women on this show, they’re complicated, they’re really rich, they’re not perfect best friends or perfect adversaries, there’s a lot of different emotional dynamics for us to play with in the relationships. I think people are really going to dig it.”

Ritter agrees, adding “our friendship is unlike any other friendship you see between two women on television. Really amazing strong female characters. This is exciting.”

Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix on November 20. Not long to go!
