This Sunday we will find out which bot is crowned the victor in ABC’s reboot of BattleBots. One lucky team will take home The Big Nut (yes that’s what they call it), forever cementing them in the annals of robo-combat with the greats that came before them like Grant Imahara, whisked away to dip in the hot oil baths of Nerdvana. Probably.

I sat down to chat with Nerdist News host and BattleBots judge Jessica Chobot about this Sunday’s finale, what it was like to see the bots up close (there was a lot of fire and some screaming involved), and how you need to see it in person, as it is monster trucks for nerds.
