Postmodern Jukebox’s “Roxanne” Cover Could Get You Very Drunk

Anyone that has ever played the “Roxanne Drinking Game” when listening to the classic song by The Police knows how dangerous it can be. If you aren’t familiar with it (good for you), the way it works is that some people in the room drink anytime they sing “Roxanne,” and the rest drink when they sing “put on a red light.” Not a single sip mind you, but a constant chug the entire time they are singing those words. Every single time.

It’s a simple, horrible, wonderful drinking game, one that you should definitely not attempt if you listen to this “vintage ’50s Rock ‘N’ Roll” style cover by Postmodern Jukebox.

Our favorite old-timey musical act is back, this time with Dani Armstrong on lead vocals, covering the iconic number from The Police. This song is a part of their new album Squad Goals (which you can now purchase as a physical CD).

Sometimes their covers feel so far away from the originals it’s hard to remember they are the same song (in a good way), but this rockabilly take still very much feels like “Roxanne.” It feels as dramatic—if not more—than the original, which is probably what makes it such a good drinking game song in the first place. (“Good” being relative to your experiences with playing it, of course.)

Postmodern Jukebox is currently touring Australia and New Zealand, but heads back to the U.S. for a fall tour that runs from late September through the end of November.
