James Gunn Reveals New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Details

Director James Gunn has moved to Atlanta in anticipation of filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in February 2016. During a recent Q&A video on his Facebook page, Gunn offered several updates on the much anticipated sequel to 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Among the tidbits, Gunn noted  that”Nebula is an important character” in Vol. 2.

Gunn also said that there will be one new character who will join the Guardians, but he added that, “I’m not going to give names and I’m won’t give numbers either.” Additionally, Gunn gushed at the prospect of having Stan Lee make another cameo in the sequel.

“I love Stan Lee,” said Gunn. “He’s a great man. He’s one of my favorite people in the world. I still get giddy like a school girl whenever I’m around him, and he’s also nice to me, so why would I not want him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?”

Gunn also responded to longstanding rumors about the introduction of Adam Warlock and potential connections to Avengers: Infinity War by stating, “You guys gotta wait and see… Everything’s going to be different in the Infinity Wars. I’m a lot more concerned with Vol. 2 than I am with Infinity Wars. The way [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2] is structured and made – it really is a story unto itself. It’s not about leading up to anything else. It’s about the Guardians and their lives.”

Surprisingly, Gunn indicated that Groot would still be “Baby Groot” in the sequel, and that “Drax is not the biggest fan of Baby Groot,” as alluded to in the first film’s mid-credits scene. Gunn also confirmed that, “As long as I’m working with Marvel, I’ll probably be working on Guardians and Guardians-related projects.” Gunn added that he is also interested in bringing Marvel’s other cosmic properties to the big screen.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.

Marvel fans, are you happy to hear that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 won’t simply be a lead-in to the next Avengers movie? And should Nebula be the leading villain of the sequel? Put in a mix tape and share your opinions below!
