Is THE PUNISHER Getting His Own Netflix Show Instead of IRON FIST?

He’s killed the Marvel Universe. He’s going toe to toe with Matt Murdock. But is The Punisher getting a standalone Netflix series of his very own? Maybe, but you might not be so happy if you’re an Iron Fist fan.

The long-awaited companion to Netflix’s Daredevil series, the Krysten Ritter-led Jessica Jones is set to premiere on the streaming service on November 20, and filming for her beau’s series, Luke Cage, began in September. But the previously announced Iron Fist series, the story of kung-fu master Danny Rand, the fourth member of The Defenders mini-series these solo shows are setting up, seems to have stalled since being announced along with the other solo shows in November 2013. New rumors point to Iron Fist being repurposed for a Netflix-only feature film instead, and suggest that another hero will join The Defenders and get a TV series of his own: The Punisher. There are a couple of reasons why Marvel and Netflix would make this shift, and more than a few reasons why it bums us out to not get a whole show about Iron Fist — number one being the fact that the Matt Fraction take on the character in Immortal Iron Fist is one of our favorite Marvel storylines of all time.

Join Jessica Chobot for the scoop on why Marvel might be pushing Iron Fist to the wayside in favor of the gritty Frank Castle on today’s Nerdist News.
