Itâs time to suit up Marvelites, this week is the premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Even if you didnât sit in on Nerdistâs 24-hour Ultimate Marvel Movie Marathon, perhaps youâre going to hold your own mini movie-thon and watch one or two of the films before the big event. What youâll need is sustenance, something to fill you up that won’t be too noisy during the movie, something… smash-worthy.
These Hulk rice balls are made with dazzling green Jade Pearl Rice. His hair is made with a little bit of decadent Forbidden Rice and his features are simple cut pieces of seaweed. Wrapped up theyâre the perfect portable snack for your Avengers viewing.
Hulk Rice Balls
(serves 4)
-1 cup Jade Pearl Rice
-1-½ cups water
-1/2 cup Forbidden Rice
-1 sheet seaweed
Give the Forbidden Rice a quick rinse, then add to a saucepan with 3/4 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
Cover and reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat, let sit for a 10-15 minutes, covered.
Fluff up the rice and set aside.
Thereâs no need to rinse Jade Pearl Rice, it keeps the color and nutrients better if you donât. In a saucepan combine the Jade Pearl Rice and 1-1/2 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
Cover and reduce heat, then simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, let sit for a few minutes, covered.
Fluff up the cooked Jade Pearl Rice and then place a scoop into the center of a piece of plastic wrap. Use the plastic wrap to shape the rice into a ball.
Add the Forbidden Black Rice along the top to create Hulkâs hair.
Cut out pieces of seaweed to form the eyes and mouth and place on the rice ball.
Keep wrapped in plastic wrap until ready to eat.
