Horror Happenings: Osgood Perkins’ FEBRUARY Coming Soon and Woody Harrelson Joins APES

There was some exciting distribution news out of TIFF this week regarding a first time writer/director who just so happens to be a part of a horror legacy, and your favorite Marty Hart has joined one of my favorite franchises running today. Let’s go ahead and hop to it!

Osgood Perkins’ February Gets Distribution

Anthony Perkins son, Osgood Perkins, teamed with Brian Bertino’s (The Strangers, Mockingbird) Unbroken Pictures earlier this year to bring February, Perkins’ feature film writing and directing debut, to life. Starring Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka, James Remar and Lauren Holly, we don’t know when exactly February will be coming to theaters–I mean, I could venture a guess (ahem)–but we do know that US distribution will come from A24 and DirectTV.

The horror-thriller won strong reviews from critics at TIFF this month and will screen at Fantastic Fest where the Nerdist team will be bringing you full coverage. Stay tuned as release details are revealed!

Woody Harrelson Coming to the Planet of the Apes

I think we can include Planet of the Apes happenings in Horror Happenings, right? And, frankly, I’ll take any excuse to talk about one of the best franchises in production right now. Add the one and only Woody Harrelson into the mix and I think that’s a good enough reason for anyone to start talking. Word came this week that Harrelson would be joining Matt Reeves’ follow up to the totally awesome Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as the movie’s villain. As The Wrap explained, “While the plot is still unknown, the film will continue with the story of Caesar, the ape who was one of the protagonists in the first two films of the reboot series. In total, this will be the eighth film in the franchise.”

As far as I’m concerned, Woody can do no wrong and I’d love for him to switch it up and play the villain for a change.
