HBO’s SESAME STREET Trailer is Very Promising

In case you missed the news in August, the beloved PBS children’s show Sesame Street is on the move to a whole new cable-oriented zip code, and their new home HBO took the holidays as an opportunity to release a new trailer for the upcoming season. Check it out above.

The show will air on the cable network for the next 5 seasons with 30 minute episodes rather than 60 minute episodes, and a whole new cast of guest stars to visit the transplanted New York street corner. Just from the trailer alone, you will have noticed some familiar faces like Usher, Tina Fey, Gwen Stefani, John Hamm, and more. But don’t worry, all your favorite monsters and friends from the show will also be making the move.

The deal is that HBO will be airing the new episodes of the show exclusively on their network and streaming affiliates like HBO Go, HBO On Demand, and HBO Now for a period of nine-months. After that time, the show will continue its 45 year long PBS tradition and will be available to the public station and its affiliates. When the news first broke, there were many cries of outrage, but fans can’t deny that HBO has done a great job with their brand mashups over the last few months. At the same time, it will be great to see a show that has been loved by so many for so long (I’m pretty sure I learned the alphabet watching it in the ’80s) get access to the kind of funding that HBO will be able to provide.

Sesame Street will premiere on HBO on January 16, 2016. What do you think of the new trailer? Are you excited to see the characters get a little digital upgrade? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
