What can you do with some clever editing and eight movies-worth of material to work with? You can apparently take âThe Boy Who Livedâ and turn him into âThe Boy Who Kills.â
YouTube user BloodBlitz Comedy has created a re-imagined Harry Potter universe — instead of the heroic boy fighting the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters, Harry is presented as a child overcome with rage, suffering the consequences of a troubled life. No longer the great defender of Hogwarts, he is now the student that all others at school must fear. Even Tom Riddle wasnât considered as dangerous at that age.
Is it so hard to imagine Harry as a violent murderer? We all know his connections to Voldemort ran deep, and the closer you got to Harry the shorter your life expectancy (Oh, hey, yeah, Iâll just be over here never getting over Dobby). Could Harry have taken Anakinâs path instead of Lukeâs? It doesnât seem likely, but that would have been one dangerous wizard.
With menacing shots (itâs amazing how a smile of satisfaction can be so sinister when viewed with ominous music), Harry comes across more like Macaulay Culkin in The Good Son, only with the ability to use magic. For the record, that sounds more believable than the premise of The Good Son.
Re-editing a movie to flip its tone offers unique looks at alternate realities:
However, this is a case of pure imagination, unlike the discovery that The Karate Kid was actually a jerk and poor Johnny was the only one trying to ease tensions.
What movies would you like to see re-imagined? What heroes could just as easily have been villains? Tell us in the comments below.
