GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Wraps with a Chris Pratt Speech

I remember being particularly enchanted by a story shared at the Avengers panel at New York Comic Con 2011. The cast was reminiscing on the long, arduous shooting schedule on what was then only yet to become the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s groundbreaking first event picture. The central cast had retired to their hotel rooms after that final day of shooting, all parties tuckered out to the point of considering spending the night in. (That’s how the story read, at least.) But then, piercing through the airwaves and striking the cell phones of each member of the Avengers troupe, a text from none other than Captain America himself, Chris Evans: “Assemble.” And thus began one final night of fun together… until two years later, I guess, when they’d all reunite for Age of Ultron.

Now, I don’t know for sure if the stars of Guardians of the Galaxy developed the same behind-the-scenes rapport—what makes the matter especially questionable is the physical absence of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel in the ensemble’s shared scenes. But this video from the set of the forthcoming sequel does seem to suggest that something special was shared on set of both Guardians films.

Director and co-writer James Gunn announced a wrap on Vol. 2, which will hit theaters on May 5, 2017—and which will, per Gunn’s revelation in the video, pay a visit to this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego. Following Gunn’s brief but compassionate speech, star Chris Pratt took the mic to really hammer home the good vibes. The star vocalized due appreciation for his costars and crew and pronounced, with great confidence, that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would become the “greatest spectacle film of all time.”

You can watch the video, which comes from the social media-savvy Gunn’s personal Facebook (we found it over at Cinemablend), below:

In short, if you weren’t already excited to see the intergalactic motley crew return to form, you ought to be by this point. This is nearing “Assemble”-levels of excitement for me.

Does the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 villain reveal the identity of Star-Lord’s dad? Watch below as we tackle this question!
