New STAR WARS Celebration Artwork is Gorgeous

It does my inner child (who isn’t that far in, if you know what I mean) a galaxy of good to be living in a world where Star Wars is everywhere AND it’s good again. The success of The Force Awakens both critically and financially has ensured a large amount of goodwill in the fandom, to the point where every new bit of ephemera is exciting. Case in point, the upcoming Star Wars Celebration Europe happening this summer has official artwork starring the casts of both The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s real purdy.

Star Wars Celebration Poster

I’ll tell you what I am, and that is “into it.” The poster shows us characters and places we already know about from the first movie and the teaser we’ve seen of Rogue One–and if you saw the leaked images the other week, then this really doesn’t show much new–but it’s still really great to see everyone all together, definitely hammering home the connections between the two films. Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Krennic looks especially menacing with his pistol and cape, and I can’t be the only one who sees at least the visual connection between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Jyn (Felicity Jones).

Slashfilm managed to get a full version of the artwork sans the titles and it’s extra glorious with added Millennium Falcon.

Star Wars Celebration Artwork

If you’re wondering what my new desktop background is going to be, wonder no longer.

A full breakdown of the art happened on Disney’s new Star Wars Show web series and told us that the AT-AT variants are called AT-ACTs, the stormtrooper variants are called shoretroopers, and the black-suited troops are called death troopers. You can see those in the gallery below.

If you aren’t watching The Star Wars Show, you really should because it’s usually very funny and gives a ton of great info. You can watch the episode in question below.

Let us know your thoughts on the artwork, and on Celebration in general (I’m jealous of everyone who gets to go) in the comments below!
