Gaming Daily: You’ll Soon Be Able to Vote on PlayStation Plus Games

Happy Friday, everybody! As the summer drought continues, some days are a bit lighter on the news side than others. Though our section was a bit sparse today, I’m here to fill you in on some of the gaming news you may have missed. In today’s Gaming Daily, you’ll be able to vote on PlayStation Plus games soon, a Batman: Arkham Knight mod allows you to kick butt as Alfred Pennyworth, Klei Entertainment is collaborating with Capy Games on a new expansion for Don’t Starve, Sony has plans to release a sweet looking Bloodborne statue, and EA confirms that a new Battlefield game will be released in 2016.

PlayStation Plus

Sony reveals that you’ll be able to vote on PS+ games in the near future.

When news hit the web yesterday that PlayStation Europe was going to give fans an opportunity to vote on what games get added to the monthly selection of PS+ titles, it left us North Americans wondering whether the new program would make the leap over the pond. It seems we didn’t have to wait too long as the company took to the PlayStation blog today to officially announce the Vote to Play promotion.

According to the post, the program allows PS+ subscribers to vote on one of several PS4 games for the upcoming month’s Instant Game Collection. From that point, which ever game receives the most votes will automatically find its way into the lineup.

The games that don’t make the cut will be offered at a discount for members. While the U.S. blog post promises to reveal more details later on, a separate one on the E.U. blog elaborates that the feature won’t be available every month. I’m assuming the same will go for us over here in America, but I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.

This mod lets you play as Alfred in Batman: Arkham Knight.

Why be the Batman when you can be the butler? YouTube channel Batman Arkham Videos—who we frequently HT over here at Nerdist—recently uploaded an awesome video showcasing a PC mod that allows players to kick butt as Alfred freaking Pennyworth in the caped crusader’s stead. Aside from the fact that the dapper fellow can’t perform counter-attacks, environmental takedowns, or dual takedowns, it’s still hilarious watching Alfred do serious damage to his foes. While this is great, it’s probably the kiss Alfred shares with one of Gotham City’s vixens that takes the cake.

Bravo modders, bravo.

Klei Entertainment to collaborate with Capy Games on upcoming Don’t Starve Expansion.

Now that’s a game I haven’t heard about in a while. It’s been over two years since Klei Entertainment’s action-adventure game Don’t Starve launched on Microsoft Windows, OSX, and Linux. After successful, subsequent releases on the PS4 and PS Vita last year, and on the Wii U and PS3 a few months ago, it’s exciting to hear that Super Time Force developer Capy Games is teaming up with Klei for an expansion.

According to the developer’s official site, Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked is slated for release on PC, Linux, and Mac, this fall. As I’m sure you can already tell by the title, the new expansion takes place out on the open sea–which previously served as a boundary for players.

With the ocean now explorable, new playable characters, biomes, creatures and even seasonal effects will be introduced to the game. It’s been a while since I’ve played the game, but I’m excited to see what new dangers await Wilson and the rest of the Don’t Starve cast fast as they continue to combat starvation.

Bloodborne figure

This Bloodborne statue can be yours come February…for $300.

I thought I would mention the price ahead of time, before you got too excited for this awesome statue. Anyways, if you find yourself clawing for every bit of Bloodborne merch, feast your eyes on the glorious image above–which depicts the statue Japanese company Grecco plans to release next February.

The ridiculously detailed Hunter figure is already available for pre-order, so act fast if you want to snag it. As the header indicates, the 32 cm creation will cost a whopping $300. Though expensive, that’s not too bad considering the amount of detail added to the character as well as the blunderbuss and saw cleaver he’s holding in each hand.

The company will be selling two versions of the figure. No, sadly this isn’t because they’re making a female hunter, but because they’ve added blood to one of them. It’s the same exact figure, except the “Puddle of Blood” version features (you guessed it) a puddle of blood on the ground, and copious amounts of blood splashed on the hunter.

Battlefield

EA confirms 2016 Battlefield title.

In news that is a surprise to literally nobody, EA revealed during an investor call that a new entry in the Battlefield series would release next year. The title will follow in the wake of both Battlefield: Hardline (which developed by Visceral) and the highly anticipated launch of Star Wars: Battlefront.

Chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen stated, “What we’ve said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles,” he said. “This year it’s Star Wars: Battlefront. Next year, it’s another Battlefield title.”

It’s been two years since the launch Battlefield 4. Though the publisher claims to have no plans to annualize the Battlefield series, Visceral’s Hardline did release this year, which has many suggesting that the next in the series will probably be Battlefield 5 helmed one again by DICE.
