Gaming Daily: New 3DS XL Rumored To Release In US This February

Last week may have seemed like a ghost town as far as big video game developments go, but if you thought this was going to be a slow week for gaming news you were dead, wrong my friends. Today’s Gaming Daily features a rumor from the ladies and gents of Nintendo, as well as some big news from Rockstar Games, PlayStation, and the folks at Turtle Rock Studios. Let’s do this!

Rumor: Nintendo to announce February release of New 3DS XL in the US.

If you harbored concerns about the New 3DS XL not making its way over to America, it looks like you can put those worries straight to bed. According to a post on NeoGAF, posters touting the new 3DS’ faster processing power, Amiibo NFC support, 3D face tracking, and additional joystick has surfaced at Gamestop, claiming that the new hardware is set to go on sale here in the US on February 13. And just like that, I know what Valentines Day gift to get one lucky lady.

A few members of the Nerdist crew (including myself) have flown out to San Francisco to check out first hand what will be unveiled during tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct. There’s a pretty good chance that we already know what their biggest announcement is, but we’re crossing our fingers that Nintendo has even more clever tricks up their sleeves. Ahem… Star Fox.

The PC version of Grand Theft Auto V delayed until March.

Are you ready for the more sigh-worthy news of the day? Rockstar Games announced a brand new release date for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, and it’s not coming at the end of January like we originally hoped. The game will officially hit computers on March 24, 2015, and Rockstar had the following to say about their latest delay:

“Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be,” Rockstar writes. “Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.”

Rockstar delivered one of the most groundbreaking sandbox experiences and riveting pieces of social commentary to hit the video game scene yet. But this hasn’t come without its fair share of disappointments along the way (see Grand Theft Auto Online official release issues). Tough to swallow as this is, Rockstar should be commended for pushing the game back and making sure it’s the best quality possible. Yes, it stings to have go on enjoying life without GTA V PC, but you have to appreciate the tenacity.

Remaster

The Last of Us Remastered now bundled with all PS4 units.

Even with 18.5 million sold, Sony Computer Entertainment isn’t relenting on making aggressive retail moves to increase their install base. The PlayStation Blog broke the news today that all PlayStation 4 consoles will now be sold with The Last of Us Remastered included. The price will still remain at $399, with items like the PlayStation camera and a PlayStation Plus subscription being sold separately.

Some may see this as PlayStation flexing their muscles after revealing their impressive sales figures for this generation thus far, while others may simply see this as Sony saving face for the recent bad press they’ve gotten from incidents like the e-mail hacking and Christmas outage. Either way, consumers can most definitely chalk this up as another one for the win column.

Turtle Rock Studios unveils Evolve‘s fourth monster.

While monsters like Kraken and Wraith are skilled in areas of mobility and agility, Behemoth operates as a tank and can transfer into a giant rolling boulder to dispatch hunters when necessary. My god, this fool is going to cause some serious issues on the battlefield for the four folks on the other side.

Along with the first gameplay of Behemoth, 2K announced some of the game’s first DLC for this Spring. If you decide to indulge in the Hunter Season Pass for $25, you’ll be able to download four new hunters (one for each class) and the fourth monster upon their release. The four hunters and fourth monster will individually cost you $7.49 and $15 respectively.

That about wraps it for Tuesday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the juicy video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.
