For collectors of movie merchandise, Suicide Squad has offered an abundance of riches, from costumes to clothing and makeup. And it seems like almost every toy company has a piece of the (figure) action: Mattel‘s have been most prevalent, but DC Collectibles, Bandai, Medicom, and Hot Toys all have offerings on the way as well. Funnily enough, though, aside from some of the more stylized lines like Dorbz, almost none are doing the primary villain of the film. It’s possible Enchantress is simply too scantily clad of a character to be sold by a mass retailer, but still, don’t the Squad need somebody to fight (besides Batman)?
Funko has stepped up with a 3-3/4 line, first revealed on Legion of Collectors, that should play well with Mattel’s similarly scaled DC Universe line, not to mention other Funko Reaction figures like the recently announced Golden Girls (Betty White on Task Force X? That’s the kind of out-of-the-box thinking that can only happen in a playroom!). In addition, rather than offer the same version of Harley Quinn that everyone else is doing, they have her in her prison outfit, though presumably if this first series does well, there’ll be more. Frankly, it’d be great to get Amanda Waller, El Diablo in his final form, and Enchantress’ big evil brother Incubus. Maybe even a con-exclusive set of Joker and Harley as a “normal” couple in her hallucination? We can dream.
In the meantime, these Funko figures will be out in January, shortly after the speculated release date of the Blu-ray in December. Waiting till a full moon in June would have perhaps been more ironic, but too long a wait. Enjoy the larger-than-life images in our gallery below.
Are you happy with the smaller scale, and the different lineup of characters? Let’s get crazy and discuss in comments!
