What does a Ghostbusters film require? Some scary spooks, a dash of danger, and four very funny and very badass people to fight them. So by the looks of this new photo of our busters of ghouls, it seems weâll be all set with the next installment in the franchise.
Via a fan Twitter account, we have what appears to be the first official photo from the new, female-led Ghostbusters film. And the ladies look like they are far from afraid of a few ghosts.

It doesnât look like we can learn a ton about the plot of the film itself from this photo, but we can definitely marvel at the fact that it certainly feels like a Ghostbusters moment, with the flood of the neon green light that has that Slimer/spectral feel to it, along with the creepy and encompassing fog. The room even seems somewhat reminiscent of the ballroom at the hotel where the Ghostbusters were first called to come and capture the disruptive Slimer during the original film.
Oh, and our four new Ghostbusters look totally awesome and completely at ease in their inherently spooky and dangerous profession of choice. This new official photo seems to capture that same spirit as the one we saw from the set months ago (without the cool green lights, but with a certain automobile you might recognize).
Directed by Paul Feig, and starring Kristin Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones as the four new members of the spirit-capturing team, the new Ghostbusters film is scheduled to be released on July 16 next summer in 2016.
