IT’s Finn Wolfhard Shares His Character’s Spotify Playlist

It’s a rare thing for a performer to have two blockbuster franchises to their credit early in their careers, and yet Finn Wolfhard has managed to score one of the leading roles in both Stephen King‘s It and Stranger Things within the same calendar year. That impressive feat means he’s in one of the biggest movies of the year and one of the most popular shows. Although Wolfhard’s characters, Richie Tozier and Mike Wheeler, both had to face unimaginable horrors in their respective stories, they had two very different personalities. Wolfhard recently shared his playlist from It, which he made with Richie in mind. It’s kind of an inside out way to get in into character, but perhaps it’s better than taking a trip through the Upside Down!

There’s definitely a lot of ’80s classics on Wolfhard’s playlist, including two from David Bowie (“Heroes” and “Starman,” which we obviously know is from the ’70s but still), as well as two from The Cure (“Love Song” and “Inbetween Days”). Guns N’ Roses also received duel representation with “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Wolfhard’s list isn’t too surprising, given the era that it’s supposed to represent. Although Toto’s “Africa,” a-ha’s “Take on Me,”  and The B-52’s “Rock Lobster” seem a little light given the unrelenting darkness that Richie and his friends had to face.

The Duffer Brothers, the co-creators of Stranger Things, recently revealed that music wasn’t the only thing that Wolfhard explored when he was filming It between seasons of his show. According to the Duffers, Wolfhard picked up the habit of randomly dropping f-bombs on the set, and they jokingly said that It corrupted him, before reiterating that Wolfhard is “still a great kid.”
