The world has been waiting for the sequel to Finding Nemo since the credits rolled after the first showings in 2003. Now, there’s more reason to be excited for the film yet to come . Finding Dory is scheduled for release this June, and ahead of that, directors Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane have shared a selection of character images with USA Today, giving us a fresh look at characters new and old.
Of course, the core of the original gang is returning: Dory, Nemo, and Marlin are in the fold again, as well as educator extraordinaire Mr. Ray and the chillest turtle in the ocean, Crush. As far as new faces, there’s Dory’s parents (voiced by Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton), Bailey the beluga whale (Ty Burrell), Destiny the whale shark (Kaitlin Olson), Hank the surly octopus (Ed O’Neill), and sea lion pair Fluke and Rudder (Idris Elba and Dominic West).
It’s not yet clear how all of these characters will be incorporated into the movie, but Stanton did say, “There will be cameos. All I can tell you is sit through all the credits.” The (in)famous seagulls from the first movie may or may not return to Finding Dory, but there is Becky the ocean loon, and Stanton affirmed that “Loons are the seagulls of this movie,” so there’s probably gallons of hilarity to look forward to there.
See the rest of the images and learn more about other new characters over at USA Today, and let us know in the comments how excellent you think Levy and Keaton will be as mama and papa Dory.
