FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE Will Be Split into Episodic Games

Over the weekend, Sony revealed a new trailer for the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake, complete with voice-acting, potentially real-time combat, and a beautiful rendering of that big bad Buster Sword. Not long after we all got to feast our eyes on the first scenes from the game, even bigger news broke: Final Fantasy VII Remake is so huge, it will be split into several installments for release. The creators seem to think that the task of adapting the classic saga for the PlayStation 4 will require more data than can be contained on a single disk, which is questionable but exciting when you consider games with humongous worlds like Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 manage to fit everything inside one package. While the first release is still at least two years away, a representative from Square Enix confirms that each installment will still have enough content to feel like a complete game.

Join Jessica Chobot as we talk about the reasons why Square Enix would be splitting up the remake and whether or not we think this is a good move for the highly-anticipated release, on today’s Nerdist News.

Thanks for watching today’s show! Check out the newest installment of Team Nerdist, the surreal adventures of your favorite Nerdist hosts behind the scenes, where Malik becomes best friends with an alien!

Let us know in the comments if you would rather play an installment of Final Fantasy VII in two years or wait five years to get to play the whole game at once!
