Exclusive: Executive Producers Steven S. DeKnight and Jeph Loeb on Netflix’s No-Holds-Barred DAREDEVIL

Rejoice, Marvelites! The Man Without Fear has finally been brought to the screen the way we always wanted him — in a show as grim, determined, and uncompromising as he is. At its red carpet premiere in Hollywood, Nerdist’s Joe McCabe chats with the three men who are most responsible for the success of Netflix’s Daredevil — executive producer Steven S. DeKnight (who replaced original creator Drew Goddard as showrunner), Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, and Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, who shepherded the show to the on-demand network… DeKnight’s no stranger to genre TV, having worked on Smallville and Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and served as consulting producer on Dollhouse — in addition to creating Starz’s Spartacus. Besides producing Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, Loeb is one of the most successful superhero scribes in recent history, penning hits like Batman: Hush, The Long Halloween, and Superman for All Seasons, as well as Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue, and Hulk: Grey.

Daredevil‘s thirteen-episode first season premieres on April 10, 2015. The show stars Charlie Cox as crusading attorney/costumed crimefighter Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio as underworld lord Wilson Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Scott Glenn as Stick, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna; along with Bob Gunton, Toby Leonard Moore, and Vondie Curtis-Hall. The first of Marvel’s Netflix series, it crosses over with A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to form the superteam series The Defenders.
