EA Announces Dates for STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT Beta

We already knew that EA planned to start their open beta testing period for Star Wars Battlefront in early October. Now, it has been confirmed on EA’s official site that the beta will be starting on October 8th and will run until October 12th. The beta will take place on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC through the Origin game client. The beta test will only offer a small taste of the game — players will get to experience three different multiplayer game modes, each on a specific map.

Players will test the 40-player “Walker Assault” mode on the Hoth map, where Rebels fight to call in Y-Wing bombers stave off the advancing Imperial walkers. That’s right, readers, you can now finally experience the opening battle of The Empire Strikes Back for yourself. The second game mode will be the “Drop Zone” mode on the black, rocky surface of Sullust. Two teams of eight will fight to control the escape pods crashing down around them in a fast-thinking and fast-acting skirmish. Finally, players will take to Tatooine alone, or with a partner, to fight off wave-after-wave of Imperial troops, walkers, and even TIE fighters in Battlefront’s “Survival Mission” mode.

The beta will also mark a 4-day test of Battlefront’s companion experience on their official website. The companion experience will include access to player stats, loadouts, player appearances, and progression, as well as a chance to play the Star Wars Base Command card game. The game will offer a crossover reward system that can unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Battlefront.
