Could the Russo Brothers Get Wolverine in the MCU?

Guys! The Russo Brothers want to invite Wolverine into the MCU! Could this really happen or is it just an adamantium-fueled dream? With the release of Captain America: Civil War with Spider-Man in tow, everyone’s chomping at the bit to ask the directors behind the soon-to-be-blockbuster what non-MCU characters they’d want to bring into the Marvel fold next. The brothers, in an interview with Collider, surprised all of us with an answer at the ready: they’d want to bring in everyone’s favorite clawed ca-nuckle-head: Wolverine.

Obviously this would be amazing, but could it actually happen? We’re finally seeing a brand new Spider-Man debut in Civil War, so maybe there’s a chance Wolvie could fight alongside the Avengers. The All-New, All-Different Marvel comics have merged all of their alternate realities, like Marvel 2099 and the Ultimate U, so now that Marvel Studios is about to introduce dimension-hopping with Dr. Strange, is it possible that the X-Men universe could crash into the MCU, forcing a fight among the franchises?

Eh, maybe not. First of all, there’s bad blood between the studios. We’ve seen this when Marvel basically killed off the Fantastic Four and the X-Men comics just because they weren’t viable cinematic properties. Second, Marvel is incredibly precious about their delicately-built cinematic universe. Bringing in mutants now might seriously taint the MCU. Third, a huge part of Marvel’s Spider-Man deal with Sony involved them getting creative control over the solo Spidey-flicks so everything in-canon would stay neat and tidy. It’s hard to imagine Fox handing over creative control of the newly-rebooted X-Men flicks to the same company that violently killed the rebooted Fantastic Four in the comics…

But what do you guys think? Would you like to see the X-Men and the Avengers universes collide? Would you prefer a rebooted X-verse or the one we’ve been enjoying on-and-off for the last sixteen years? Who’d win in a fight?! Wolverine or Cap? Let’s discuss!
