Classic Movie Posters Come to Life as Animated GIFs

Imagine if you took the most iconic movie posters of all time, some of which you may currently have hanging in your house/apartment/dorm room right now, and brought them to life with scenes from the films. Would it enhance the experience? Pablo Fernandez Eyre, a filmmaker from Los Angeles, is trying to find that out.

Eyre has taken some of the most well-known movie posters in history and melded film footage into each one, giving it a “motion poster” feel, in GIF form:

Eraserhead

Eraserhead has always and will always creep me out. This poster of Harry Spencer’s bulging eyes does not help.

E.T.

When I was a kid and saw the poster for E.T. for the first time, the flying bicycle had already captured my imagination. Seeing the bicycle actually flying on the poster would have captured and held my imagination for ransom.

Rocky

Everyone can feel like an underdog, and Rocky is the ultimate underdog story. This poster lets you feel like you’re right there with him, ready to fight the odds.

You can check out the rest of these posters in the gallery below, or if you like your movie poster viewing set to music, Eyre created this video showcasing the entire set.

So what do you think? Are these legendary posters even better with added movement ? Do you have a favorite poster you’d want to receive this treatment? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
