Blizzard’s New Deal Will Let You Stream OVERWATCH on Facebook Live

Live-streaming the likes of Overwatch and Hearthstone on Facebook will soon be as simple as a click of a button. Blizzard Entertainment announced a deal with Facebook Monday, to integrate Facebook Live into their current lineup of games (via Polygon). Along with the streaming side of things, you’ll also be able to log in to your Blizzard games using your Facebook account later this month, making it even easier to jump into Overwatch.

If it hasn’t sunk in yet, this is a huge deal for both parties involved. For Facebook, this means that their streaming service could potentially gain even more success thanks to the popularity of Blizzard games. On the flip side, Blizzard now has the premiere social media platform which they can use to implement other social features for their community. This has the potential to completely change the streaming game. Now we wait to see what Twitch and other live-streaming services will do to combat this move by Facebook.

There’s no timeline yet as to when we’ll be able to stream the games on our respective Facebook timelines, but Blizzard is currently working on adding the “Go Live” feature on Overwatch, with other games to follow soon after. I’m not sure this is a big deal to your average gamer, but it will definitely be a great feature for popular streamers.

What do you guys think about the new deal? Does this incentivize you to stream your epic Overwatch matches on Facebook? Is this even something you can see yourself using on a daily basis? Which games would you want to stream? Is Blizzard trying to take over the world? Let us know in the comments section below!
