Celebrate Your Favorite Films with This Mash-up of Movie Trailers from 2015

2016 is upon us, and it’s safe to say that we loved 2015 and we loved the movie trailers we saw in 2015! So this video mashup, created by Youtube and Tumblr user Sleepy Skunk, is an end-of-year treat for all film lovers. Watch this video and relive the majority of films from the recent past, present, and future.

Movie trailers aren’t just about studios marketing to an audience which has the ability to skip nearly everything projected on a computer screen. They’re (suppose to be) about building up hope and anticipation for what’s to come in a film, and expanding our viewing history with plenty of film options. That’s why there are so many trailers featured on this video. The complete list of film trailers used during this video mash-up will eventually be posted on Sleepy Skunk’s Tumblr page, and, hopefully, that’ll navigate some viewers towards undiscovered films featured here.

From sci-fi to action, to comedy to romance, to drama to everything and anything in between, films have the power to transport us and give us that warm, safe escape from the daily grind. Trailers are essentially little beacons of warmth to help us hold out for another week, month, or year before the release date. (But, seriously, we would like Star Wars: The Force Awakens now, please!)

And as awards season comes into motion, some of the lesser known gems with trailers from 2015 might not get enough justice. For one, writer/director Alex Garland’s Ex Machina isn’t necessarily a front runner for nominations, yet it proved to be a stunning feast for the psychological sci-fi genre, with an entirely solid cast list and production crew. And that’s just one example out of many wonderful film trailers in 2015!

Some films from this video aren’t even out yet, but the anticipation from visually brilliant trailers, like the latest trailer for MacBeth or Tarantino’s Hateful Eight, help captivate our imaginations. Who’s to say what will become of these films 20 years from now. What we do have are our experiences as audience members, which, for the most part, began with a trailer or tease seen on screen.

We’d like to know whats your favorite movie trailer from 2015 is! Leave us a comment below! And cheers to the next year of film in 2016!
