Celebrate National Donut Day with a TWIN PEAKS Donut Supercut

In honor of National Donut Day, what better way is there to celebrate than with a supercut of the many times that David Lynch and Mark Frost’s classic television series Twin Peaks celebrated those delicious and addictive little confections? (Besides hitting up your local donut shop and going nuts, obviously. Just do that after you’ve watched the video.)

Twin Peaks fetishized a lot of different food items, namely cherry pie and coffee, but none were used quite as much as donuts, so much so that even this terrific supercut from YouTube user steveh7nz leaves certain donut moments from the series on the cutting room floor. Luckily, the most important ones are included here, like when Waldo the myna bird (who was witness to the events leading up to Laura Palmer’s murder, which the whole show centered around) was shot in the police conference room and his blood and feathers splattered all over the donuts, resulting in one of the show’s most iconic images.

The only other show besides Twin Peaks that was as preoccupied with all things donut is maybe Dexter, which begs the question: just why do the series that love donuts center around grisly murders?? And then there’s that bloody shoot-out in the donut shop in Boogie Nights. Hmmm… I think someone out there needs to write their college thesis on “Blood n’ Donuts In Film And Television.” Or, you know, just make another cute YouTube video. That’ll work too. In the meantime, enjoy the Twin Peaks donut supercut, and cross your fingers that when Agent Cooper and the gang return to television next year, they’ll be scarfing down donuts like it’s 1991.
