White Hills want you to turn on, tune in, and drop out. I am only guessing, but based on their aggressive, proto-punk psychedelia, I think that parents in the ’60s would have been really worried about the rock duo’s album Walks For Motorists being among their kids record collections. Tracks like “LSD for USB” and “I, Nomad” should be ample indication of the kind of cosmic aural journey the band wants you to embark upon.

To celebrate their recent release the duo, comprised of guitarist Dave W and bassist Ego Sensation (yup), have compiled a Spotify playlist spanning several decades of music that all, in one way or another, fits into their countercultural vibe. From the grungy crunch of Mudhoney’s “A Thousand Forms of Mind” to the folk hymnal “Throwing Stones” by the Black Ryder, the mix represents the myriad of influences from which the band finds their thrash, saunter, and soul. Also, if you are not a denizen of the UK, then Anita Lane’s track may not appear on the playlist, so I thought I’d throw ya’ll a bone with the surreal music for that track below.
