Bryan Singer Teases More Behind-the-Scenes Pics from X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

There is probably no film director out there who continues to use social media as well as Bryan Singer, who on an almost weekly basis gives fans some kind of behind-the-scenes glimpse into the film he’s making via his Instagram account. He did it first a couple of years ago when X-Men: Days of Future Past was in production, and he’s doing it even more now with the much anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse.

He likes to gives a peek behind the curtain to such an extent that you could call him the “anti-JJ Abrams”, another high-profile Hollywood director whose approach to making these big-budget geek-friendly movies is quite the opposite: to essentially show you nothing until opening day (Disney has curbed some of that behavior with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but that was how Abrams operated pretty much on most of his films till then.)

This week, Singer released two different photos from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, neither of which show too much (unlike last week’s pic, which showed an impressive ancient Egyptian tomb set) but which were given hashtags that suggest a lot. The first pic shows what look like a series of lockers with clear doors showcasing what looks like uniforms.

OK, we knew the X-Men would get costumes of some sort in this flick, so no big surprise there. But the hashtags say #remindsmeofarea51 #roswell. He might not be being literal here, so fans shouldn’t get too excited that it means we are suddenly getting aliens like the Shia’r or anything, but it is an interesting possibility that we are maybe getting our first hints of otherworldly life in the X-Men movie universe. The second pic looks like more destruction in the streets of Cairo, similar to the pic he released not too long ago, maybe caused by Storm.

All will be made known of course, when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016. I expect many, many more pictures from Singer’s Instagram to hit before then. In the meantime, check out both of the pictures in question below:
