Bruce Timm’s JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MONSTER CHRONICLES Introduces a New Superman

We recently spoke to comics and animation legend Bruce Timm about his new DC Animated Film, Justice League: Gods and Monsters, which is set in an alternate world that sees a darker version of our favorite heroes. DC has been releasing episodes in a series called Justice League: Gods And Monsters Chronicles to introduce and showcase the new versions of familiar characters. The series is being released through Machinima and the first episode, “Twisted,” featured new versions of Batman and Timm’s own creation Harley Quinn.

Today, Machinima has premiered the second episode in Timm’s series, titled “Bomb.” In it we are introduced to the alternate version of Superman. Timm has stated that this version of Supes, while still the last surviving inhabitant of Krypton, is actually the son of General Zod instead of Jor-El. This leads to a much more cold and militaristic style of Superman. The short sees Metropolis under attack by Brainiac, and the government scrambling to find a solution. Luckily Superman appears in time to stop them from taking drastic measures (such as nuclear weapons), and heads into the heart of the city to put a stop to the trouble.

As Timm has proved in his previous video, this is quite a different and sometimes darker take on the DC animated universe than before. And, like last time, it also carries a bit of drastic turn at the end. We have one episode left, premiering next week, that will introduce us to Timm’s alternate version of Wonder Woman. Be sure took keep an eye out for that, but in the meantime let us know what you think of The Son Of Zod in the comments below.
